About

An independent label for music that feels lived-in.

Painful Records exists for songs shaped by memory, pressure, beauty, loss, voltage, and human intention.

Painful Records is the home of The Miracle Syndicate, Feck & Ellie, and related sonic work by Brad Astra, Nayeli Astra Xóchitl, and Elena Morgenstern. The label was built as a place for music that carries emotional weight without turning it into spectacle.

Each release is shaped through careful production, visual direction, arrangement, mastering, and independent release culture. Painful is not built for algorithmic gloss. It is built for songs with marks on them, songs that feel handmade, cinematic, and alive.

We do not release music to fill silence. We release music because silence sometimes needs evidence.

Painful Records
Statement

Human vision at the centre.

Painful Records uses modern tools without surrendering authorship, intention, or emotional direction.

Painful Records creates music using a blend of analog instruments, digital production tools, guided vocal performances, and careful human direction. AI-assisted tools may appear in the creative process, not as replacements for emotion, but as extensions of intention.

Every release is handcrafted, arranged, edited, produced, and mastered with human vision at the core. The work is curated down to the final detail: texture, performance, arrangement, atmosphere, artwork, metadata, and release.

Painful Records does not support copyright infringement, artist mimicry without consent, or the automation of art for profit alone. The label exists to release music that comes from somewhere real, even when the source is half-lit and difficult to name.
